Here's a break down of what you need to know...
On Sunday, October 19th we are hosting our 10th Anniversary Walk to Bust Cancer.
Location: Fort Hunt Park, Alexandria, VA - just off the George Washington Parkway between Old Town Alexandria and Mount Vernon.
Start time: 7:30am
The Agenda:
7:30 am – Shirt pickup opens. Grab a snack, hit the rest rooms.
8:30 am – Opener
The music will start to play and we'll make a few remarks (...it's our Anniversary and we have exciting news to share!)
A FUN group warmup by Chakaboom Fitness
We'll take a moment to embrace our Warriors/Survivors with the Circle of Strength - no one fights alone.
8:50 am – The Walk gets underway. 1.3 miles of relatively flat asphalt around "the loop".
We encourage you to register early! T-shirts can only be guaranteed for those who register BEFORE Sept. 20.
A few things we've learned over the years:
Get there a little early to get parking spot close-ish to the start. We will have parking attendants to direct you; golf cart rides from the far lots for those who require assistance. Talk to your lot attendant, and they'll get you a ride!
Check the weather and dress in layers - warm to start with the ability to shed a layer when the blood gets pumping. We'll be walking rain or shine.
This is a walk with a personality and bright colors ... feel free to have fun with accessories!
Well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. (Dogs that get anxious around crowds, don't like loud music, don't like kids petting them, or tend to get snippy with other dogs wanting to sniff hello probably should sit this one out.)
If you can't join us, we'd love a donation to help more people in our community stay on top of their health and the fight against breast cancer.
We walk around Fort Hunt Park's Loop (Length: 1.3 mi.)
Plan on spending two hours for the event – from starting remarks to walking around the loop together and finishing.
About the Loop:
The surface is smooth asphalt and typically at least 8 feet wide.
The estimated grade is mostly gentle (5% or less) so an easy walk.
The loop is considered navigable for most participants using wheelchairs/mobility equipment or strollers.
There are benches and picnic tables along the route for resting, plus public restrooms at the start/finish line.
GOOD TO KNOW: There are unpaved trails that cut nearly through the middle of the loop and returns you to the Walk's starting point in case you need get back quickly.

Yes! We love furry family members. As we say, we are dog-encouraged!
A few things to keep in mind:
Dogs should be well-behaved in public/crowds and always on a leash.
Dogs that get anxious around crowds, don't like loud music, don't like kids petting them, or tend to get snippy with other dogs wanting to sniff hello probably should sit this one out.
Many dress their pups in the spirit of pink... just an FYI.

Oh, and let's not forget the fine print – all National Park rules must be followed: https://www.nps.gov/gwmp/planyourvisit/forthunt.htm
Of course, following park rules, there are no sales of items at the park.
But we always invite our sponsors and partners to set up tables to provide information about their organizations and offerings. Many are local businesses and/or healthcare-related organizations that are a part of our growing support network.
Please stop by and say hello!
Please send all non-registration inquiries to: Info@WalkToBustCancer.org
We have a team dedicated to helping folks get registered for the walk. You can reach them at walktobustcancerhelp@gmail.com
Allow us up to three (3) business days to get back to you.
Provide us your name, contact information and your question.
Most answer to questions, however, should be found here in the FAQs or on the Walk site.
TAKE PHOTOS, MAKE VIDEOS... and tag us!
We want to hear your stories of support, survival, or being an awesome neighbor showing up to help make a difference in someone else's life!
Everyone's POV and reason for attending matters to us. The more stories we share, the more of our sisters, neighbors, family members, and friends will know where to go... to get free mammograms and the support they need when uninsured or under insured.
IF this is your first Walk (or 10th)... post what you're learning about this Walk, the Foundation, and the resources that are available to anyone. Others need to know about this free resource.
Work your social magic and show off the fun, love, and great community we're building.

There is ample parking around the walk site. And, yes, getting there early will get you closer to the start/finish line. We'll have staff, cones, and signs helping you know where to go.
Most importantly when arriving.
Please be observant and follow the instructions of our parking attendants. They are volunteering to make sure everyone has a good experience.
FYI - There are a limited number of handicapped parking spots. If you require one, please tell one of our parking attendants as you enter the park.
Depending on our turnout, parking may extend around the loop quite a bit – meaning walking a few yards (plus) to Registration/Starting Line area and back may be part of your arrival. Plan your arrival accordingly.
Because it will be an October morning, consider wearing water resistant shoes in case you need to cut through the grass either due to parking or exploring the park. The grass at 8:30am will likely be damp!
FYI: Check-In/the Starting Line are both closest to picnic area A-001.
Here is a link to recreation site that has an interactive map to locate A-001, parking options, and see the Loop we'll be walking: https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232494
